SAIL SZCZECIN 2025

ree

Ahoy mates!

At long last we can share a post about Sail Szczecin - a cracking event that was packed with highlights for us. We played on the shanty-folk stage 🎻 and in a few other spots too, including aboard the schooner Freedom (cheers to the crew and the Maritime Heritage Foundation for hauling us off the quay 😄).

We also had the chance to showcase our new set and speak with our own voice, offering listeners faithful Polish translations of classic work songs. In Poland that’s not always the case - the well-known shanties are often fitted with rather loose lyrics, sometimes even about something completely different. By doing things properly we’re moving past the “just a covers band” label, working in two directions at once and taking a more creative route, which has led us to collaborate with new, professional musicians.

All told – this year’s festival was absolutely first-rate, and Szczecin stood tall alongside major European events. The sunshine topped it off perfectly… well, almost too perfectly, as we were close to melting on stage 😄☀️🔥 Still, they say revenge is best served cold - but lightly grilled works just as well.

Big thanks for the media coverage from Krzysztof Romański at Żaglowce, Radio Szczecin Kasia Wolnik-Sayna, Joanna Maj and the invaluable Paweł Arczewski – and to everyone we shared kind words and a pint with 🍻.

Thanks as well for the energy under the stage and for belting out the choruses with us – not the easiest feat at four in the afternoon.

Fair winds from the crew of Queen Anne’s Revenge
